This lecture explores and explains the principles and concepts of functional medicine. Attendees will learn how to effectively expand their approach to patient evaluation and treatment in order to achieve better outcomes for patients with chronic disease and vexing clinical syndromes.
The allopathic medical model emerged during an era when acute conditions were the main scourge in the health arena. Despite its success in this domain, it is fair to interrogate whether this model of care has proven equally effective in addressing the prominence of complex chronic disease and undiagnosable syndromes that we now encounter. Functional medicine was conceived specifically to be synergistic with the allopathic model to better address this epidemic of the 21st century.
