Briana Barkes graduated with a degree in sociology and history from Whittier College. She went on to receive her Masters in Public Health in Dublin, Ireland. She has been at National Jewish Health since 2006, assisting in design, implementation and management of multi-site/multi-institution epidemiological and clinical studies involving chronic beryllium disease, sarcoidosis, and other granulomatous and occupational lung diseases.

Kristyn MacPhail graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in zoology and genetics from Michigan State University in 2005. She moved to Colorado in June of the same year and joined Dr. Maier’s laboratory, where she has worked on multiple research projects over the years involving allergies, chronic beryllium disease, sarcoidosis, and other granulomatous and occupational lung diseases.

Background
Peggy Mroz, MSPH, is Lead Epidemmiologist in the Division of Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences at National Jewish Health. She received her MSPH, with an emphasis in Epidemiology, from the University of Colorado Denver and has been involved in study design, coordination and conduct of beryllium and sarcoidosis related health effects studies ever since. Ms. Mroz has wide and diverse experience as it relates to beryllium in worker populations and development of medical surveillance programs for government and private industries. She has studied rates and determinants of chronic beryllium disease and beryllium sensitivity in worker populations worldwide and has provided beryllium-related education for workers, community members, and healthcare professionals. Ms. Mroz is also involved in research focused on defining genetic, genomic and epigenetic and exposure risk factors in occupational, environmental and idiopathic granulomatous lung diseases.
