Nursing is a complex, evolving profession.
A registered nurse license is necessary for general nursing practice. However, nurses need to be lifelong learners in order to continue to safely care for patients.
Nursing certification is voluntary and demonstrates commitment to providing excellent care. There are many nursing certifications available, such as asthma educators, medical-surgical, pediatric, pain management, cardiac vascular, oncology, hospice, case management, emergency nursing, critical care, and others. This certification is accomplished through specialized education, experience in a specialty area, and a qualifying Nursing Board exam. Board certification contributes to higher standards of patient care and protects consumers.
National Jewish Health is proud of our Certified Nursing Professionals.
