Frequently Asked Questions

How does concierge medicine work?

Concierge medicine is an emerging field that allows medical providers to build strong relationships with patients without limitations set by health insurance companies in a traditional health care setting. Instead, patients pay a membership fee that covers many services such as annual physicals, laboratory tests, longer appointment times, same-day and next-day sick appointments and more. This model of care provides patients with a high level of service, as doctors are able to focus on caring for a smaller number of patients.

Do I need health insurance?

Yes, we recommend that you maintain health insurance to cover appointments with specialists, hospital stays, prescriptions and other medical services outside the scope of your Concierge Medicine membership.

What if I need a referral to a specialist?

When you are referred to a specialist, your Concierge Medicine team will handle all of the details. Your team will work to get you scheduled with a National Jewish Health specialist in a timely manner. Your specialist will be able to easily consult with your Concierge Medicine physician and will have access to your medical records. Appointments in specialty clinics and other services performed outside of the Concierge Medicine program can be billed to your insurance.

Your Concierge Medicine team also will coordinate referrals to specialists at other organizations.

How long do appointments last?

Most appointments last between 45 minutes to one hour. Our goal is to have ample time to have meaningful conversations and answer your questions. We offer in-person, video and phone appointments.

Do you draw blood in the office?

Yes. Your Concierge Medicine provider will discuss any necessary tests with you at your appointment. If blood work is required, we will draw it in our clinic. Because we have an on-site lab, many of your test results will be available on the same day.
