The Division of Biostatistics is dedicated to the reliable compilation, accurate analysis, and effective dissemination of clinical and research information to benefit the prevention and treatment of respiratory, allergic, and infectious diseases.
In that effort, we fulfill a number of statistical research and educational support functions:
Collaborates with clinical and basic science researchers to design, analyze, and present study results.
Develops consistent and reliable procedures for the capture, management, and control of study data.
Licenses and supports packages for database management and statistical analysis methodologies.
Offers general classes in statistical concepts and methods.
Assists researchers with protocol development and review through the National Jewish Health satellite of the Clinical Translational Research Center (CTRC) at the University of Colorado Denver.
Our faculty provides expertise in the design and analysis of clinical trials for investigator-initiated protocols.
The Data Coordinating Center (DCC), a key component of the Division, operates under Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) developed in conformance with Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations and Good Clinical Practice guidelines. The DCC collects data and manages research information using Cardiff® TeleForm® technology as well as its own copyrighted Study Designer/Manager© system. Both state-of-the-art software packages create paper- or Web-based data collection forms. They also verify, process, and store submitted data forms in an accessible database.
