Healthy Participants Needed for Lung Inflammation Study
Trial Objectives
Inflammation in the lungs is tied to a number of diseases, including pneumonia and acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). Researchers want to better understand how the lungs heal after patients have recovered from these conditions by studying the involvement of immune cells called macrophages.
Volunteers in this study will be randomly assigned to one of two groups. The first group will receive a treatment that will stimulate the immune cells in the lung and then receive a nasal brushing and bronchoscopy. The second group will receive the nasal brushing and bronchoscopy only. Researchers will use the information collected to develop therapies that can help the lungs heal more effectively.
